'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition': Army Veteran Who Suffered Extensive Burns Gets New Home (VIDEO)

'Extreme Makeover' Transforms Army Veteran's Home

The Harris family was the latest beneficiary of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team's generosity and kindness. They headed to Texas to help out military veteran Shilo Harris and his family. Shilo, a retired Army staff sergeant, suffered burns on one-third of his body during combat in Iraq.

The team worked their usual magic, building a whole new house for the Harris family. And the new home included hospital-grade climate control and air-filtration, as well as a covered patio, to help Shilo with his recovery. Beyond that, the backyard featured a wild west town and even a horse. The kids were thrilled with the new addition to the family.

Shilo and his wife Kathryn have both taken up the cause of giving back to others who've been injured in service to the country. Shilo travels as a motivational speaker while his wife began working for the Army Wounded Warrior Project. Now they'll have a beautiful oasis at home to enjoy when they're together.

The abbreviated holiday season of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" wraps next Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
