The nominees for The Golden Globe for Best Animated Film have been announced and "Brave," "Wreck-It Ralph," "Frankenweenie," "Rise of the Guardians," and "Hotel Transylvania" were on the list.

The nominations for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards were made public Dec. 13.

The much-celebrated "Brave" was a shoo-in for the category. The Pixar film, which stars Kelly Macdonald and Emma Thompson, among others, follows the heroine Merida in her kingdom in Scotland.

The Best Animated Film category first appeared at the Golden Globes in 2007, celebrating the animated films of 2006. "Cars" won the first Golden Globe award for Best Animated Film. Last year, at the 69th annual Golden Globes, "The Adventures of Tintin" beat out "Arthur Christmas," "Cars 2," "Puss in Boots," and "Rango" to take home the award.

The 70th annual Golden Globes will be held on Jan. 13, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. "SNL" alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been tapped to host the awards.
