Maxine Waters On GOP Protecting Middle Class: They Need To 'Walk The Walk' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Congresswoman: GOP Needs To 'Walk The Walk'

Democratic California Congresswoman Maxine Waters appeared on HuffPost Live Thursday to discuss the ongoing fiscal cliff negotiations, racial profiling, and conservative agendas.

"When it comes to making sure middle-class families have a good quality of life, [Republicans] talk about it but they don't walk the walk," Waters told HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill.

Waters was recently named the top Democrat on the powerful House Financial Services Committee, pledging to protect the Dodd-Frank financial reform law from Republican opposition and to continue to pursue housing finance reform.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues to protect, defend and implement the important provisions of Dodd-Frank, which will continue to strengthen our financial system," Waters said in a statement, according to The Hill. "I understand that regulatory certainty is an important aspect of growing our economy, and remain committed to ensuring clear and transparent regulation which creates the space for innovation, safety and soundness."
