The enduring influence of that poster aside, 2012 proved to be quite the year in decor, with a number of trends going from Pinterest favorites to real-life ubiquity in no time flat. Ombre became popular with people using the fading technique on everything from vases to walls. Martha Stewart was given a run for her money with new go-to lifestyle guru Brit Morn. And just recently we learned Pantone's color of year is emerald green.

All in all we've seen some amazing progress and innovation within design. But there are a few trends we'd rather do without as we enter the New Year.
