Sometimes, a tech company will announce a product that it is hailed as a masterpiece and enjoyed and shared by millions of people the day it arrives.

Other times, however? Well, a new release will often look impressive upon first glance but will end up bellyflopping. Hard.

Below, we've collected 11 of the biggest tech bellyflops from 2012. These are the releases that came with lots of hype but either never caught on, were critically panned, just didn't work, or all three. And while most of the companies and entities below also released other legitimate hits this year, these particular efforts proved big, fat failures.
