War Of 1812: Monroe, Mich. Hosts Historical Reenactment And Events On Jan. 19 And 20, 2013

The War Of 1812 Lives On In Monroe

(MONROE, Mich.) -- The Natural Resources Department announced that Monroe, Mich. will be hosting various events to commemorate the War of 1812 between the British and the Americans on the weekend of Jan. 19-20.

Monroe, which was previously a British outpost named Frenchtown, was the site where American forces defeated the British in Jan. 18, 1813.

There will be a historical war reenactment on Saturday, Jan. 19, and a veterans’ salute to the fallen soldiers on Sunday, Jan. 20. Both events will be held at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park.
