To paraphrase Jon Landau, the NFL saw quarterbacking future in 2012 and its name is RG3.. and Russell Wilson.

These dual-threat rookie quarterbacks will face off in the Wild Card weekend finale when Wilson leads the 11-5 Seahawks into FedEx Field to face Robert Griffin III and the 10-6 Redskins. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Griffin has piloted the NFC East champion Redskins to the postseason for the first time since 2007 with a poise that belies his youth. The surging Skins reeled off seven straight wins to clinch a spot in the postseason, but may be coming up against the only team as hot as they are. Winners of seven of their last eight games, Wilson and the Seahawks topped 50 points twice in December and hung 42 on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.

The 75th-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson will not only be facing the Redskins' defense but he'll also be up against the Seahawks own history of futility on the road during the playoffs. The 24-year-old quarterback wasn't even born the last time that Seattle won a postseason game away from home: Dec. 31, 1983 in Miami. For those counting, that's 29 years and eight road losses for the Seahawks since that win.

While the offenses generated the attention before kickoff, it could be the defensive units that determine the outcome. Seattle's speedy defense will aim to contain Griffin and keep him from getting to the edge. As the Redskins' rivals in the NFC East can attest, this is easier said than done.

Will RG3 assert his status as the top rookie in the game? Or can Wilson continue to make his case as the top performer from the 2012 draft?
