Redskins vs. Seahawks LIVE Updates: Wild Card Game Features RG3, Russell Wilson

To paraphrase Jon Landau, the NFL saw quarterbacking future in 2012 and its name is RG3.. and Russell Wilson.

These dual-threat rookie quarterbacks will face off in the Wild Card weekend finale when Wilson leads the 11-5 Seahawks into FedEx Field to face Robert Griffin III and the 10-6 Redskins. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Griffin has piloted the NFC East champion Redskins to the postseason for the first time since 2007 with a poise that belies his youth. The surging Skins reeled off seven straight wins to clinch a spot in the postseason, but may be coming up against the only team as hot as they are. Winners of seven of their last eight games, Wilson and the Seahawks topped 50 points twice in December and hung 42 on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.

The 75th-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson will not only be facing the Redskins' defense but he'll also be up against the Seahawks own history of futility on the road during the playoffs. The 24-year-old quarterback wasn't even born the last time that Seattle won a postseason game away from home: Dec. 31, 1983 in Miami. For those counting, that's 29 years and eight road losses for the Seahawks since that win.

While the offenses generated the attention before kickoff, it could be the defensive units that determine the outcome. Seattle's speedy defense will aim to contain Griffin and keep him from getting to the edge. As the Redskins' rivals in the NFC East can attest, this is easier said than done.

Will RG3 assert his status as the top rookie in the game? Or can Wilson continue to make his case as the top performer from the 2012 draft?

The Wrap

Seahawks erase 14-point deficit to defeat Redskins 24-14 in DC. They're moving on to face Atlanta. The RG3 injury makes this loss especially trying for the Redskins.

In the opening game of Wild Card Sunday, the Ravens handled with the Colts without too much trouble and gave Ray Lewis another day to dance in public.

@ Redskins :

Shanahan: Griffin III is a leader and tried to gut it out today. That's "the type of player that you want" leading your team

Ballgame, Hawks

Coaches greet on the field as Seahawks defeat Redskins, 24-14.

That'll Do It

4th down pass is errant and Seahawks get the ball back with 35 seconds to play. They are one kneel down away from advancing. It's the first road playoff win for this team since 1983.

@ MikeWiseguy :

After the sting wears off of losing a 14-pt lead, man, what a surreal seven-game run that was. Finally covered a playoff game at FedEx.

Last Gasp

Cousins and the Redskins' offense back on the field with just over a minute to go. First pass is incomplete. 2nd and 10 from their own 20.

@ BillHall_III :

When ur a winner u want to be on the field. That's all I'm saying. If ur star player tells u he's good what coach wouldn't let him try???

@ ReillyRick :

Which rookie had the best game? Maybe Bruce Irvin. A guy who once sold coke, robbed people and did time is now a star. #Seahawks

Two-Minute Warning

Seahawks lead 24-14 and have the ball. Washington is without timeouts and RG3. For Skins fans, it's probably feels even bleaker than that sounds.
