Detroit City Council voted Tuesday to uphold Mayor Dave Bing's decision to fire the administration's top lawyer, in a reversal of their previous support for Krystal Crittendon.
CBS Detroit reports the vote was 6 to 3 to dismiss the corporation counsel, who previously butted heads with Bing.
Bing said at a press conference Tuesday that he had no animosity toward Crittendon.
"I have no problem with people disagreeing with me," he said. He added that he wanted the "right' people on his team and that he believed some of the decisions made by Crittendon were not best of the city.
Crittendon, with the support of City Council members, last year issued a legal challenge to the financial stability agreement the city holds with the state. The mayor sought to remove Crittendon from her post, asking her to resign, which she refused.
Crittendon's lawsuit claiming the agreement violated the city charter had been thrown out twice.
She is able to return to her previous position in the law department, Bing said.
