Jessica Simpson will star in a NBC sitcom pilot presentation based on her life. According to TV Guide, Simpson will star as herself in the "'Curb Your Enthusiasm'-style" comedy.

"King Of Queens" and "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" writer Nick Bakay is scripting the pilot with Simpson's father Joe and Ben Silverman on board to executive produce. Bakay is perhaps best known to viewers as the voice of Salem in "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch."

"We are thrilled to team up with the multi-talented Jessica Simpson to bring this new sitcom to life on NBC as she is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops," Silverman, founder and chairman of Electus, said in a statement."From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica's character approach a variety of 'everyday' circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud."

Simpson, who recently served as a mentor on NBC's "Fashion Star," has previously acted in both films and TV, including appearances on "That 70s Show" and "The Dukes of Hazzard." She also starred with then-husband Nick Lachey in an MTV reality series "Newlyweds."

Simpson is currently pregnant with her second child. "I am so excited to work with with Ben and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy," Simpson said in a statement. "I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life- so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!"
