Walled Chinese Village House On The Market In Coral Gables (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Would You Buy This Very Unusual Gables Pad?

A historic Coral Gables home is on the block -- but its aesthetics don't come standard.

The 5 bedroom, 4 bath walled villa is part of the Gables' Chinese Village, a collection of 8 Asian-style homes that all feature brightly colored roofs and distinctive architecture. Set at 5125 Riviera Drive, the 3,375-square foot home was completed in 1925 at the height of the Miami building boom.

Curbed Miami reports the home was designed by architect Henry Killam Murphy, one of many styles approved for the aesthetic of the City Beautiful under the guidelines of Gables founder and city planner George E. Merrick.

A relatively small property compared to the estates and manses of one of Miami's flashiest enclaves, the two-story home is accented by several authentically Oriental designs, including a Chinese-styled gabled roof (duh!), traditional good luck statues, intricately carved outrigger beams, and lattice iron gates.

Eerily reminiscent of the Forbidden City and on the market for a cool $949,000, relaxed privacy is the name of the game. Check out photos courtesy of Realtor.com:
