Anita Baker On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live': Singer Performs New Track 'Lately' (VIDEO)

As fans anticipate the release of Anita Baker’s eighth studio album, “Only Forever,” the 55-year-old songstress is celebrating her Grammy nomination for the project’s lead single, “Lately.”

As Baker revealed to the Boombox last August, the album cut, one of the first songs recorded for the opus, was inspired by Tyrese’s 1999 track of the same title.

"['Lately' is] one of the first songs we cut, analog, in Nashville," she said. "I brought in a live rhythm section. I brought it to L.A., and I called [Tyrese] into the studio and I played it for him; he had no idea. And he lost it, of course. He was like, 'I know who has got to produce this!' I'm like, 'I already know, I got Harvey Mason, Jr., on tap.'"
