Jay Cutler's Proposal To Kristin Cavallari: Bears Star Proposed Via Text Message, Mailed A Ring

Jay Cutler Proposed To His Fiancée Via Text Message

We've heard of the controversial text message breakup -- but a text message marriage proposal?

According to E! Online, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's proposal to his fiancée Kristin Cavallari suggests Cutler isn't exactly the down-on-one-knee type:

"It was so silly," Cavallari told E! "I was in the airport, leaving Chicago. We had just spent however many days together and we were texting and somehow it came up, like, 'Oh, shall we get married?' We're like, 'Yeah, OK.' And then he sent my ring in the mail. So I actually had my ring sitting at home for a couple of weeks before I put it on."

The MTV reality star countered the E! report, which was almost immediately picked up by Perez Hilton, Deadspin and others, in a Thursday morning tweet:

Stop bashing jay. He proposed in Cabo. Stop believing headlines...u have no clue. They take 1 piece of an interview to get ppl talking.

Then again, Cavallari's tweet may be describing how their previous proposal went down. For those of you who haven't been closely following the Cutler-Cavallari romance, the two had previously planned to marry in April 2011, but split up that summer, the Bleacher Report points out. They have since gotten back together and, last August, Cavallari gave birth to the couple's first child, their son Camden.

In related news, Cutler and his "pouty" face were recently named to Forbes' ranking of America's most hated athletes, joining the likes of Manti Te'o, Michael Vick, Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong.
