Mike Tyson's 'Law & Order: SVU' Appearance' Criticized By Rape Survivor (VIDEO)

Mike Tyson guest-starred on "Law and Order: SVU" Wednesday night, playing a rape victim on death row. The decision to cast the former heavyweight champ on "SVU," a show dedicated to portraying sex crimes in the criminal justice system, has caused a controversy, as Tyson himself served three years in prison following a 1992 rape conviction.

Marcie Kaveney, who launched a petition requesting NBC reconsider casting Tyson, joined HuffPost Live Thursday to discuss the the episode.

"Ultimately it comes down to he should not have been cast in the show at all," Kaveney told host Marc Lamont Hill. "It was insensitive and inappropriate." Kaveney pointed out that the petition is not about Tyson's ability to work in TV, but rather about "SVU" as a show that sex abuse survivors watch and identify with specifically.

Tyson has previously responded to the controversy surrounding his appearance on HuffPost Live, telling Hill that he believes he has paid back his debt to society and is trying to reestablish himself.
