Juanes will perform Sunday at the Grammy Awards, the president of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow said on Wednesday at the fourth annual “Grammy in the Schools Live! — A Celebration of Music & Education,” charity event.

“It will be a wonderful thing! When we do this, it is a positive thing, it shows our diversity and that music is a universal language.” Portnow said at the gala which promotes music education for high school students through the Grammy Foundation.”We are so excited that Juanes is here tonight. This is something that reaches deep down in his heart,”said Portnow.

Juanes’ “MTV Unplugged” album won last year’s Latin Grammy for album of the year and is nominated in the Latin pop album category at Sunday’s Grammy Awards.

He performed with a group of music students chosen by the Grammy Foundation.The event, which was held in the Grand Ballroom of the University of Southern California, had amazing presentations by current members and graduate students from several high schools supported by the Grammy Foundation and ended with a presentation by the Colombian rocker, who joined the students on the stage to delight the audience with acoustic versions of their hits “A Dios Le Pido” and “La Camisa Negra,” plus “La Señal” and “Azul Sabina,” songs from his latest album.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the 55th annual Grammy Awards have added more personalities to the packed list of performers and presenters for Sunday’s show:

Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will join The Black Keys onstage for a special performance. Three-time Grammy winner Stanley Clark, along with Chick Corea and Kenny Garrett will join forces to pay tribute to jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck, and there will be a joint performance by Travis Barker, Chuck D, Tom Morello, DJ Z-trip and Grammy host LL Cool J.
New presenters include Ellen DeGeneres, Kat Dennings, Johnny Depp, John Mayer, Nas, Pitbull, Bonnie Raitt and Kelly Rowland.

The Grammys will air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
