What's In Store For Ray And Shoshanna? Alex Karpovsky Talks 'Girls' (VIDEO)

What's In Store For Ray & Shoshanna On 'Girls'

Sunday night's "Girls" episode featured a guys' trip to Staten Island that ended with Ray breaking down and sobbing on a bench. Tuesday on HuffPost Live, Alex Karpovsky discussed where his character's relationship with Shoshanna may be headed in the second half of Season 2.

"Well, I'll sort of coyly say this: At the beginning of Season 2, Ray and Shoshanna kind of very nervously, apprehensively stumble into this love space, and it's scary for both of them. For Shoshanna, because of her naivety and for Ray, because of these unresolved issues. And I think as Season 2 unfolds, this tension and this fear intensifies, and the results are pretty funny."

In an interview with Vulture, Karpovsky hinted that tough times could lie ahead for the mismatched couple:

"It's not necessarily a perfect relationship. The road to love between Ray and Shoshanna isn't necessarily paved with roses, and there are lots of surprises that might be difficult for them both to negotiate. I'm not saying it's doomed, and I don't want to be fatalistic about it, but they are different people. They are different ages. They have different worldviews. It's very much uncertain whether they'll find a graceful way to compromise, and learn to love each other's differences, or if, to quote Joy Division, love will tear them apart."

"Girls" airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
