Robin Roberts will return to the "Good Morning America" anchor chair on Wednesday after being off the air for more than five months.
Roberts took medical leave at the end of August 2012 to undergo treatment for MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. She received a bone marrow transplant in early September, and has been building strength to return to the morning show. Roberts and her "GMA" team have been keeping viewers up to date on her treatment, recovery, and journey back to morning television.
Roberts sat down in candid conversation with her co-hosts to discuss her big return. She shared that she had visualized her return to "GMA" and that it will seem like no time has passed at all. She also shared that she is a bit nervous to return to live television. "I haven't done live television since the end of August. So I'm a little bit nervous," she said to her co-hosts. "I know you all have my back ... you all have raised the bar." She added, "Onward and upward!"
Roberts teased her return to the ABC morning show last month. At that time, she did not announce a specific date but did say she planned to return sometime in February. She took some time to get back on her former schedule, waking up at 4:30 a.m. and traveling to the ABC News studio to get ready for air.
