Mia Love, the African American, Mormon, Republican mayor of Sarasota Springs, Utah and a rising star in the GOP, will deliver a speech at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference in March, organizers at the American Conservative Union announced Thursday.

Love, a first-generation U.S. citizen born to Haitian parents, ran for Congress in Utah last year amid much fanfare from Republicans, who were seeking to combat criticism that their party lacked diversity. She received a high-profile speaking slot at the Republican National Convention, but eventually lost a tight race to incumbent Democrat Jim Matheson in the state's 2nd Congressional District.

The ACU also announced that Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) and his wife will host a "Real World" conversation about current events, a reference to the couple's time spent on MTV's eponymous reality TV show.
