Kim Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries famously fizzled in just 72 days. And their courtship was similarly brief.
But now, Kim reveals that it was the whirlwind romance of her sister Khloe and brother-in-law Lamar Odom (who dated for only a month before marrying in 2009) that inspired her to take the plunge so quickly.
“I saw fast marriages like Khloe and Lamar’s and that was what seemed to work. [Now] I say give it a good six months before you commit. Feelings change, even if it seems so lustful,” Kim tells Cosmopolitan in the magazine's April issue.
Kim tells Cosmo that she and beau Kanye West are taking their time, when it comes to their relationship of 10 months. “Sometimes you’re just not ready," she says. "A person could have it all, and you’re not ready for it all. But this is where I probably always should have been…[marriage] is something I know that we both want in our future, but I don’t have this sense of urgency about it. I have this best friend who understands me and helps me through all my tough experiences, and vice versa, you know? It just feels like this is it for me.”
Kim, who is scheduled to give birth to her first child with West in July, adds, "I’ve always said that I wanted kids, but I don’t think I ever would have been ready until now.”
Kim admits her views have become less conservative since sister Kourtney got pregnant in 2009. “I was like, ‘You’re not married! How could you do this?’ I was really firm and strict," Kim tells Cosmo. "But she was like, ‘Marriage isn’t what I want.’ And later, I realized she had a better family life than I did.”
However, Kim and Kourtney's brother Rob begs to differ. In January, he told People, "I'm so proud of my sisters, but I'll be married before I have a baby."
