With $85 billion in across-the-board, automatic federal funding cuts going into effect beginning later Friday thanks to the budget sequestration in Washington, many Illinoisans will soon be feeling the impact of the widespread cuts.
While President Obama and congressional leaders are meeting Friday to attempt to avoid the drastic cuts, optimism is low for a deal. In a press conference Friday morning, Obama called the cuts "arbitrary" and "dumb."
"This is not a win for anybody. This is a loss for the American people," he added.
