On Tuesday, Venezuela's Vice President Nicolas Maduro announced the death of President Hugo Chavez. Chavez, 58, had been battling cancer since 2011.

In his speech, broadcast live on Venezuelan television, Maduro announced the controversial leader had died at 4:25 p.m. local time "after a struggle with an illness, for almost two years, with the love of the people, with the blessing of the people, and with complete loyalty from companions in arms, and with the love of his family."

Reuters reports that the funeral will be held on Friday, via Venezuela's foreign minister.
