Lauren Cohan Explains 'Walking Dead' Cast Death Parties

Those birthday parties on the set of "The Walking Dead" won't be fooling fanboys anymore. Not after Lauren Cohan spilled the beans about what's really going on during her appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The actress, who plays Maggie on the hit zombie series, said that it all had to do with a bizarre ritual the cast have come up with for any time a character is being killed off on the show. "We get very ceremonial about it, so we have death dinners when somebody’s dying," she explained. "We bring out fake birthday cakes with, like, ‘Happy Birthday, Goodbye, You’re dead!’"

She said the birthday ruse was to throw off savvy fans who might otherwise figure out what the celebration is for, and therefore spoil upcoming deaths on the show. But now that she's spilled the beans, they're going to have to come up with another sneaky way to honor their fallen castmates.

They need to start brainstorming right away. The body count is likely going to rise as Season 3 wraps, and producers say they plan to amp up the threat of the walkers even more in Season 4.

Tune in to "The Walking Dead," Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on AMC. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on ABC.
