Holly Madison Defends Baby Name 'Rainbow'

Holly Madison Doesn't Care If You Don't Like The Name 'Rainbow'

Holly Madison doesn't really care if you don't like the name "Rainbow."

The former Playboy Playmate, who gave birth to a baby girl on March 5 in Las Vegas, chose a very colorful name for her daughter, but not everyone liked it. After hearing all the insults, she fired back. On Friday, Madison took to her blog to defend naming her baby Rainbow, People magazine notes.

"There are a lot of smug haters out there who bag on my choice of a name, but I don’t care about what they think," Madison wrote on her blog. "I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age. I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don’t want that for her."

Of course, the "Peepshow" star isn't alone in her affinity for uniqueness. Blue Ivy, Audio Science, Ocean, Birdie, Tennessee, Apple and Happy are just a few of the more unusual baby names chosen by celebrity parents.

"There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual," she explained. "She was a perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I’m not worried about my daughter being 'traumatized' by having an unusual name."

This is the first child for Madison and her beau, Pasquale Rotella, a party promoter and founder of the neon-tastic rave Electric Daisy Carnival.

"I've never been more in love than I am today as, after months of waiting, I finally was able to hold my daughter for the first time," he told In Touch. "Holly and I are looking forward to spending some quiet time with our baby and enjoying our new family. I'm truly the luckiest man in the world."

According to E! News, the two are planning a late-summer wedding.
