Lena Dunham Talks 'Spanx' On 'Girls,' 'Gossip Girl' And More

Lena Dunham Doesn't Want To Look Like The 'Gossip Girl' Cast

It's no secret that Lena Dunham doesn't mind showing off her curves on "Girls." But in a recent interview with CBS, she revealed that she makes a point of not looking picture perfect on TV.

"We will do a thing sometimes where we'll, like, all fit clothes with Spanx so that they fit right. And then I'll remove the Spanx so they're kinda like rumpled up," she said.

But Dunham hasn't started her anti-Spanx movement because of comfort: The "Girls" creator has a point to prove.

"We have this insane culture where women who don't look like the cast of 'Gossip Girl' are put into sweaters and nightgowns to sleep in," she said.

This isn't the first time Dunham has emphasized the importance of showcasing "normal" body types on TV.

"I hope that my presence and that of my cast members has given people some sense that a range of body types is appropriate and even wonderful on TV," Dunham told E! Online.

"Girls" Season 2 comes to an end on Sunday, March 17 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
