With spring upon us, many eyes are turning towards Washington D.C. in anticipation of the annual blooming of the cherry blossom trees. (They are expected to appear between March 26 and 30 this year.) The flowering trees were a gift from Japan, where cherry blossoms also draw thousands of spectators to Tokyo.
But, it's not all about the cherry blossoms. Japan's plum trees also put on a lovely show with their blooms, which are already in full bloom in Hyogo Prefecture. About 20,000 of the trees (of various varieties) are currently displaying flowers in dazzling shades of pink and white on Ayabeyama mountain. Check them out below, and remember that its just a few more days until spring!
