11-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Kidnaps 6-Year-Old

11-Year-Old Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping 6-Year-Old

An 11-year-old Michigan boy is now in juvenile detention after allegedly kidnapping a 6-year-old.

The stepmother of the younger boy told investigators that around 5 p.m. Wednesday, her boy was playing in the yard of their Ottawa County home when she realized he had disappeared, Fox 17 reported.

Around that time, a school bus driver a few blocks away spotted the youngster "being led by the 11-year-old by the collar of the neck," Ottawa County Sheriff's Lt. Lt. Mark Bennett told the station.

The driver was unable to stop the bus at the time, but the stepmother of the younger boy was contacted and quickly found her stepson.

She told police that even after she showed up, the 11-year-old tried to pull the child away from her and put up a struggle when she tried to grab the boy back. She called police after taking her stepson home, Wood TV reported. He was not injured, but some of his clothing was torn.

Bennett told Michigan Live that the 11-year-old had tricked the younger boy into leaving his yard. Though Bennett would not give specifics, he did mention the ruse was "rather intricate for an 11-year-old to come up with."

After luring him from the yard, the 11-year-old then allegedly grabbed the child by the neck and led him away from his home.

"I can't speak to what intention this kid had," Bennett said, who noted that though the two children know each other from school, they are not friends.

He also stated that the older boy has run into trouble with the law before, though nothing as serious as this incident.

The 11-year-old was charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault and is currently in the custody of a juvenile detention center.
