Anderson Cooper Dives With Crocodiles (VIDEO)

WATCH: Anderson Cooper's Insane Assignment

Anderson Cooper doesn't like to eat vegetables, but diving with crocodiles? No problem.

The "60 Minutes" correspondent recently went on assignment in Botswana, looking for man-eating Nile crocodiles. He ventured into murky waters and underwater caves, carrying just an iron rod for protection, according to producers.

He took viewers behind the scenes in a segment for "60 Minutes Overtime." Cooper acknowledged that his first dive was especially dangerous, citing a strong current and low visibility.

"It's very eerie, it's very claustrophobic," Cooper recalled about coming upon crocodiles in a cave for the first time. "You know there's crocodiles there but it's so pitch black you can't see."
