Jamie McBain Own Goal: Hurricanes Defensemen Scores On His Own Net (VIDEO)

Unlucky NHL Player Scores Own Goal

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jamie McBain helped out the wrong team on Tuesday night when he accidentally slipped a puck past his own goalie in a game against the Winnipeg Jets.

McBain had tried to clear a pass by Winnipeg sniper Evanader Kane during the third period. But the 25-year-old defenseman whiffed on his shot and then accidentally backhanded the puck past Carolina goalie Justin Peters. Kane was credited with the score.

Winnipeg went on to win 4-1.

McBain hasn't tallied a goal for his team since January 28th against the Boston Bruins.

This is the second time in two games that a Hurricane has put a puck in the wrong end. On, Saturday Jordan Staal sent an errant pass into an empty net during a matchup against the New Jersey Devils.
