"The John Mulaney Show," a Lorne Michaels-produced NBC comedy pilot starring comedian John Mulaney has tapped "Saturday Night Live" cast member Nasim Pedrad for the leading female role, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Pedrad will play "Jane, the sweet, intelligent and lazy grade school teacher who doesn't love her job and wants to make changes but she's addicted to procrastinating," in the pilot created and written by stand-up comic and "SNL" writer/producer Mulaney. The multi-camera sitcom is loosely based on Mulaney's life and "will follow a group of young people and their hijinks." Martin Short, Elliott Gould and stand-up comedian Griffin Newman have also been added to the pilot, which is taping in NYC this month.

If "The John Mulaney" is picked up, Pedrad will have to leave one Lorne Michaels-produced show for another. She is currently the longest-running female cast member after Kristen Wiig and Abby Elliot left "SNL" in 2012. This news comes a time when many are speculating that current "SNL" head writer and "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers may depart from the show to take over for Jimmy Fallon on "Late Night," if and when Fallon moves to "The Tonight Show."
