Michelle Obama's Makeup Teaches Us All About The 3-Step Face

We keep a close watch on red carpet beauty, but we love seeing celebrities step out in pared-down makeup. (Or when they dare to go au naturale.)

Michelle Obama, Padma Lakshmi and Emmy Rossum have been photographed recently wearing what we'd like to call "the 3-step face." This barely-there beauty trend is built on a foundation of brows, lashes and lips. Simple, right?

Whether your makeup look is in need of a spring awakening or you spend way too much time getting ready in the morning, the 3-step face can totally transform you routine ... and for the better. You'll spend less time (and stress less) digging through loads of beauty products to put on a full face. Instead, this simplifies things and allows your natural beauty to come through.

Here are a few tips to get the 3-step face down:

Brows: Grab an eyebrow brush (yes, you should definitely own one of these) and groom your brows by brushing in their natural direction of growth. For most women, this is upwards. Fill in any sparse sections with a brow pencil or powder, then brush again to blend product through.

Lashes: Curl your lashes, apply a few coats of mascara, then curl again to instantly wake up your look. To really get your eyes to pop, add winged-out liner close to the top lash line.

Lips: Nude lips are definitely having a moment. A fleshy, pink lipstick or gloss not only completes this look, but it creates a more youthful appearance.

What do you think about the 3-step face? Is this simple makeup look something you'd wear? Tell us in the comments section.
