"Pitch Perfect" fans, get ready to be aca-amazed.

News that the cast of last year's hit comedy could reunite at this month's MTV Movie Awards had already leaked, but now the network has announced the big moment will open the show.

Jason Moore, the film's director, has conceived a musical number that will pit the cast members -- Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Esther Dean, Adam DeVine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow and host Rebel Wilson -- as dueling a capella groups the Barden Bellas and Treblemakers, according to an MTV press release. The performance will feature a new musical mashup.

Notably missing from the list is Anna Kendrick, the film's lead.

UPDATE: A representative for Kendrick told HuffPost Entertainment that the actress's absence is due to a "scheduling issue." Kendrick will be in New York City on the night of the awards, which take place in Los Angeles. She is working on the movie adaptation of the musical "The Last Five Years."

The original story continues below.

“I could not be more thrilled for the MTV Movie Awards to be the setting for the 'Pitch Perfect' Bella and Treblemaker reunion,” Moore said. “We have something exciting in store for the MTV audience, and I know the cast and the fans are going to really enjoy our first-ever live performance."

"Pitch Perfect" became a sleeper hit in 2012 when it grossed more than $65 million at the domestic box office. It boasted the best-selling soundtrack of the year and is now nominated for four MTV Movie Awards: Best Female Performance (Rebel Wilson), Best Breakthrough Performance (Rebel Wilson), Best Musical Moment and Best WTF Moment.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live on April 14 at 9 p.m.
