Where Is My Tax Refund? IRS Says Expect It Within 3 Weeks Of Filing

Where is my tax refund? It's a common question. So if you finally got around to filing your tax return and find yourself anxiously wondering when you can expect your return, you're not alone.

The answer: More than nine out of 10 refunds are received within 21 days of the Internal Revenue Service getting your return, according to the IRS's website.

If you filed your return online, you can begin to check the status of your refund just 24 hours after your filing date. Those filing a paper return will have to wait four weeks to check the status.

You can check the status of your refund here.

Keep in mind that if you are unable to file your tax return by the April 15 deadline, you can file for an extension on or before that date.

If you do not file your taxes or an extension on time, you may have to pay a fine.
