Buffalo Sabres' Steve Ott Licks Opponent Jeff Halpern During Hockey Faceoff (VIDEO)

WATCH: What's Going On With Your Tongue, Steve Ott?

Well, Steve Ott certainly has the competition licked -- and we mean that literally.

The Buffalo Sabres center licked his opponent, Jeff Halpern of the Montréal Canadiens, during a hockey game Thursday. The Ott made his move during a third-quarter faceoff, sticking out his tongue to lick Halpern's visor.

"He tries to win faceoffs many ways," one of the sports announcers says in the video, adding, "I've never see this before."

As Deadspin notes, Ott and Halpern were teammates at one point, so maybe the odd behavior was all in jest.

Despite Ott's tactic, he still lost the faceoff to Halpern and the Canadiens crushed the Sabres with a final score of 5-1. With Thursday's victory, the Montréal team will head to the playoffs.
