The MTV Movie Awards took place Sunday in Los Angeles, with "Pitch Perfect" star Rebel Wilson acting as host for the proceedings.

"The only thing I've hosted is this parasitic worm," said Wilson to James Franco during the pre-taped opening segment of the show.

Wilson and her "Pitch Perfect" co-stars performed an original medley of songs after the pre-taped bit, featuring Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" and Miley Cyrus' "The Climb."

"They thought I was Adele," Wilson joked about being hired by MTV to host the show.

Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Melissa McCarthy were some of the early presenters. The MTV Movie Awards also promised new looks at "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "Iron Man 3."

A bevy of famous faces were scheduled to appear during the broadcast, including "Star Trek" stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto. Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, who star in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, were also set to make an appearance, as were MTV Movie Awards honorees Jamie Foxx and Will Ferrell. Selena Gomez and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were among the planned performaners.

Nominees included a number of box office favorites like "Django Unchained," "The Avengers," "Ted," and "The Dark Knight Rises," all of which joined "Silver Linings Playbook" as nominees for Movie of the Year.
