Brooke Shields: 'View' Keeps Asking Me To Co-Host

Brooke Shields told "Today" on Tuesday that she has not received a formal offer from "The View," but that the show keeps asking her back to guest-host.

Shields is rumored to be one of the frontrunners to replace Joy Behar, who is leaving this summer. She has guest-hosted the show numerous times.

When Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford asked Shields to clear up rumors surrounding a possible role at "The View," Shields said: "I have hosted many times and I've hosted recently and they keep asking me back to host. There's been no formal offer... it's really been a rumor. They haven't asked."

Last month, a source told People magazine that people at the show "love her and she enjoys it." Ali Wentworth, a comedian and the wife of ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, is another contender for the job.

"The View" is headed for a major shake-up with Behar's departure this summer. She announced in March that she is leaving after this season. That news was quickly followed by reports that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be getting fired from the show because her political views clash with those of the audience. Barbara Walters denied those reports, but that hasn't managed to end speculation that Hasselbeck's days at "The View" are numbered.
