High School Love Letter: Sweet Note Begins 17-Year Relationship (PHOTO)

LOOK: The Letter That Started A Lifelong Love Affair

Before Facebook posts and text messages, there were love letters -- and they don't get much sweeter than this.

On Wednesday, Reddit user Katie (username ktdidit) shared the sweet-but-shy love letter her now-husband, Mike, wrote when they were 15.

"I think about you often and I've wanted to tell you. I don't have the guts to tell you to your face though," Mike wrote in the letter, dated April 17, 1996. Read the entire letter below:

Katie wrote on Reddit that she and Mike met when they were in third grade, began dating when they were 15 after he wrote the letter, and married in 2009.

"Mike is still my best friend...but I think one of the biggest things that keeps us going is that we don't hold grudges. Our friends always laugh at how we'll be arguing one [minute], then laughing the next!" Katie wrote. "At this point I couldn't imagine my life without him."

Another sweet love letter, written by a sixth grader, went viral in 2012.
