SLS Brickell Renderings Show Mad Stripes, Rooftop Pool, And Pointy Balconies (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Brickell's Next Big Hotel Is Mad For Color

Brickell's next big mixed-use development is mad for color.

Newly released renderings of the upcoming SLS Brickell Hotel and Residences show starchitect/designer and creative partner Philippe Starck has given the building's entry segment a vibrant cover of multi-colored stripes -- and drenched support columns in a striking tomato red.

The rest of SLS Brickell is all chic glass and jutting balconies forming a diagonal line up the building's sleek Arquitectonica-designed tower, which will house 133 hotel rooms and suites and 450 SLS-branded condo residences.

Ten thousand square feet of retail space underneath will house a new restaurant -- his 6th! -- from celebrated Miami chef Michael Schwartz, and a mix of restaurants, lounges and pool bars overseen by creative partner and chef José Andrés. Expect a mix of new ideas and existing SLS concepts, like The Bazaar and Katsuya from the sister SLS Hotel on South Beach.

Local developer Jorge Perez of The Related Group is partnering on the project with SLS honcho Sam Nazarian, who's already opened the brand's properties in Beverly Hills, Miami Beach, Las Vegas and New York. The group hope to turn the ground floor space on into something of a Lincoln Road on South Miami Ave, reps say, which should be no problem considering Brickell's density.
