Anderson Cooper Dons Mullet-Style Bike Helmet (VIDEO)

Anderson Cooper took a brief walk on the wild side Thursday when he donned what appeared to be a raging mullet.

Yes, he went there. Cooper was co-hosting with "Today Weekend" anchor Erica Hill, who used to be his colleague back on his CNN show "Anderson Cooper 360." She said she used to chastise him for not wearing a helmet when biking, and Cooper admitted that he did not like how they look.

"They all look like giant sperm," he said.

"And then I remember how much you loved my hair from 6th grade," Hill said, unveiling a blast from the past: a picture of her younger self with a quintessential 80s haircut. It was short and spiky at the top, with long locks in the back — a look that she described as a "lion's mane."

Then, she surprised Cooper with a mullet of his own, attached to a bike helmet. Cooper tried it on, and dubbed the look "The Erica Hill."

It's not the first style risk that Cooper has tried on his daytime show. He recently put on a t-shirt emblazoned with french fries, which he received from Jill Martin when she co-hosted, and once tried on wigs with Miss Piggy.
