'What To Do If Your Friend Comes Out To You': WellCast Teen Web Series Looks At Personal Issues (VIDEO)

Aiming to help teens and pre-teens tackle difficult issues, a new animated YouTube series explores what to do if your friend comes out as gay to you.

The new clip from WellCast offers suggestions like reminding your friend that you still care about him or her, but also to respect your pal's privacy during the coming out process.

The show, which is being funded by YouTube, launched in September 2012. Director Sarah Keokanock says the goal of the series is to "address various issues that people use, using the power of animation."

Keokanock adds, "We want the show to be as entertaining as it is helpful, sort of like an older sibling you trust."

Added WellCast writer Lucy Mueller: "We found that the YouTube ecosystem is perfect for [the teen] demographic-- we get instant feedback from our viewers, who ultimately really dictate our content."

Other WellCast episodes have looked at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) relevant topics like personally coming out of the closet. Check out more WellCast clips here.
