After Jason Collins came out in a poignant essay in Sports Illustrated, the 12-year NBA veteran received support on Twitter from Bill Clinton, Kobe Bryant and a multitude of others. Several hours later, Collins shared his own social media message.

Before his piece in SI was released late Monday morning, Collins had fewer than 4,000 followers, according to Mashable. Nearly twelve hours later, he had more than 70,000.
