(DETROIT) -- A suspicious package found in downtown Detroit on Thursday morning has been destroyed by authorities.

The package was discovered on Michigan Avenue near the McNamara Federal Building. Published reports state that emergency crews were notified, and authorities then removed the package and safely detonated it.

The incident remains under investigation.
