Tampon Ads: Tampax Launches Ridiculous New 'Radiant' Line

LOOK: The Most Absurd Tampon Line Ever?

Menstrual product advertising is not exactly known for its honesty. After all, it wasn't until 2011 that a company -- Always for the win -- used real blood instead of scary blue liquid in their ads.

Tampax may have taken the shhhhhh-factor to a whole new level though with its new "Radiant" line of tampons.

What is so radiant about these new tampons, you ask? What sets them apart from the sleek yet sturdy (yes, we're still talking about tampons) Pearl? Almost nothing. And what does distinguish the "Radiant" line from competitors is actually quite the opposite of "radiance."

According to the Tampax website, the "Radiant" radiant tampon line is "protection that you can keep secret" because it has a "redesigned discreet wrapper that is softer and quieter than Pearl Compak."

We don't know about you, but "radiance" has always seemed to us to be more about letting yourself shine than hiding in shame. Is it really a bad thing if someone hears the crinkle of a tampon wrapper in your purse?

Responding to the ad on Jezebel, Katie J.M. Baker wrote, "I hate how I feel like I have to be so covert when asking a coworker to borrow a tampon or carrying one in my hand on the way to the bathroom."

We agree. Let's chill on the period-shaming.
