Body Found Floating Off Sausalito

The lifeless body of a man was pulled from the bay near Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito on Monday evening.

Identification papers were found, but authorities withheld information pending notification of relatives.

"There were no signs of foul play," said Sausalito police Sgt. Bill Fraass. "This is in the hands of the coroner's office and we are awaiting an autopsy."

Southern Marin Fire Capt. Charles Casalnuovo said the body, reported floating near a breakwater about 30 feet off the end of Basin Two at Clipper Yacht Harbor at 6:21 p.m., was retrieved by firefighters aboard Fireboat Liberty.

Officials quickly confirmed the man, who was about 50, was dead.

There was no immediate report on the case Monday from coroner's officials.
