Mayor Jerramiah Healy Blames Nude Photo On Hispanic Girls, Angering Latino Community

Politician Blames His Nude Photo On Hispanic Women

Latino activists protested outside Jersey City Hall Monday over a bizarre story the city’s mayor told the press last week, in which he blames unidentified Hispanic girls for an embarrassing photo, News 12 New Jersy reports.

A nude photo of Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy sitting on his front porch first surfaced in 2004. But last week, Healy offered up new details, saying that “three Hispanic girls, young kids” woke him up by banging on trashcans.

Healy, admittedly drunk, says he walked out to his front porch, wearing nothing but a towel. Then, Healy said, the girls pulled the towel off him.

“Now I start laughing and then they started doing other stuff,” Healy said, according to New Jersey Star-Ledger. “I say I’m old enough to be your grandfather.”

Healthy wouldn’t elaborate on what the “other stuff” was, saying only that it was “filthy.” He said he chased them away and then sat down on his porch, when someone took a snapshot of him naked.

Councilwoman Nidia Lopez slammed Healy for offering up this new version of his nude porch romp, saying “I think the Hispanic community deserves an apology and I think our mayor needs psychological help,” according to the Star-Ledger. “For this mayor to degrade Hispanic women by creating this wild story eight years later… three young kids molested him, he’s laughing about it. How the hell did he know they were Hispanic?”

“I wish I recall how I got back out there,” Healy told the Times in 2004. “But I don’t.”

Healy was also convicted for resisting arrest during a tiff with police years after the nude photo episode, according to the Star Ledger.
