A report released by the state this week paints a bleak picture of the Pontiac School District's finances, including its ability to make its payroll.

The findings of a preliminary financial review were detailed in a report that state Superintendent Mike Flanagan sent Wednesday to school board president Caroll Turpin and Superintendent Brian Dougherty. Dougherty announced two days earlier he was resigning, effective May 17.
