'The Vampire Diaries': Bonnie Brings Down The Veil, But Does She Push Too Far? (VIDEO)

'The Vampire Diaries': The Veil Comes Down And Someone Dies

It was guest-star-apalooza on "The Vampire Diaries" as Bonnie brought down the veil around Mystic Falls. Virtually everyone who has died in the course of the hit CW show returned, for good or bad. It was all part of a ploy to eliminate Silas, but her grandmother told her she could have just done it by using expression and dark magic.

Unfortunately, while Bonnie was successful in returning Silas to stone, she wanted more. Elena got a much-needed reunion with Jeremy, which helped her fully regain her humanity. When she'd originally turned it back on, she did so with a focus on killing Katherine. Seeing Jeremy again helped her come back fully, where she can now start to deal with all of her emotions.

Unfortunately, Bonnie got a little greedy after seeing Jeremy for a bit. The two had been falling for one another when Jeremy died, and so Bonnie was probably trying to bring him back as much for herself as for Elena. But this isn't the kind of magic she should be doing, as the spirit of her grandmother warned her.

Midway through the spell, she collapsed to the ground. When she awoke, the veil was still down and her Grams was there. But she had bad news. "I’m sorry, Bonnie. The spell, it was just too much," her grandmother told her. And then Bonnie saw it. Her own body was lying nearby.

“Oh my God,” she realized. "I’m dead.”

E! Online was ready to mourn her death when they realized what she'd actually done. "She was able to bring down the veil, meaning she can stick around as a ghost and fans will get to see Bonnie graduate and all that jazz...for now," they wrote. "Definition of crazy? Hell, yes—and we love it!”

Next week is graduation, and the season finale of "The Vampire Diaries." Will the veil stay down? Will Bonnie stay dead? Come back on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW to find out.
