Desiree Hartsock, 'The Bachelorette,' Reveals Her 'Pretty Cry' Technique For HuffPost's #nofilter (VIDEO)

Does 'The Bachelorette' Pretty Cry?

These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous "insiders." After a while, it's easy to forget that stars are real people. That's why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question-and-answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they've shared their guiltiest pleasures?

"The Bachelorette" is back! The show's new star, Desiree Hartsock, stopped by HuffPost Live this afternoon (May 20) to talk about the upcoming season and whether or not she found the man of her dreams. But while the 27-year-old bridal stylist was in the studio, HuffPost Celebrity figured we'd ask her some of our #nofilter questions to get a sense of what she's like behind the scenes.

So, did she try to "pretty cry" for the cameras? Hmm, not so much.

What's your dating deal-breaker?A deal-breaker is someone who doesn't want kids or someone who is arrogant, full of himself. That's a deal-breaker.

Are you able to tell right away [if a guy isn't the right one]?Not right away. I mean, I would like to think I'm a good judge of character, but of course there are some who slip through the cracks.

Did you have your bad egg this season? There are a lot of unique personalities and there are expressive men; they like to stand up for themselves, so there's going to be some drama.

Did you worry about that going in?No, I expected it ... I'm very observant, so group dates were very important for me to really see how the guys reacted to each other.

What's the No. 1 quality that you look for in a guy?I would really honestly say how they treat others. I think it's a good indication of how they're going to treat you and I want someone who's going to be able to be outgoing and I can take him places and he can make conversation.

Have you ever attempted a "pretty cry"?Oh my gosh. You know what? No one cries pretty. No one does and whoever thinks they do, they don't.

Were there some tears [this season]?Of course there were tears, there were a lot of tears.

Did any of the men cry?Oh, of course! Oh yeah, we had some emotional men. But in a good way because I feel like this season is full of just raw emotion that's real and really what it would be in day-to-day life.

Any regrets? No regrets. No, not at all because I stay true to my decisions and I always felt confident in one I was doing, so no regrets.

And no pretty cries. No, unfortunately, I'm sorry guys. No pretty cries, you're going to see ... just a mess. I think when you're in a moment when you're so emotional, you don't even think about what you look like. You really don't. I mean, if you look back at other heartbreaks, usually you're like in your pillow with mascara running down. So, no, it's not going to be pretty, but it's going to be real.

"The Bachelorette" premieres Monday, May 27 at 8 p.m. EST.
