Robin Roberts Publishing Memoir

Robin Roberts is publishing a memoir that will delve into her struggle with MDS, the rare blood and bone marrow disorder she was diagnosed with last year.

Hachette Book Group, the memoir's publisher, announced the news in a statement on Wednesday. "In her new memoir, Roberts will tell the amazing story of her courageous battle against a life-threatening illness, the life lessons she continues to learn, and her inspiring return to the GMA anchor desk," the network said.

“I am humbled that many have an interest, and draw strength from my on-going journey," Roberts said via the statement. “I’m grateful for the prayers and well wishes of so many people."

The memoir, which does not have a title yet, is slated to hit bookshelves April 2014. It will be published by Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group.

Roberts returned to "Good Morning America" in February, after several trying months of treatment for MDS. She underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant from her sister Sally, followed by months of recovery while her immune system became stronger. She has spoken out about the ordeal, saying that at one point, "I left like I was dying." "GMA" also documented Roberts' journey on the show.

Last month, Roberts was hospitalized again after falling ill during a trip to Key West. She maintained that it was "nothing serious," though doctors wanted to admit her to the hospital to be safe. She was back on air the following week.
