Former Florida Rep. Connie Mack (R) and former California Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R) announced their divorce on Friday.

“We are saddened to announce that we have reached the difficult decision to end our marriage," the two said in a statement, according to the Tampa Bay Times. "We have nothing but respect and admiration for each other and we intend to remain on the friendliest of terms. We appreciate the love and support of our family and friends."

Connie Mack was defeated by Democrat Bill Nelson in November 2012. Bono Mack was also defeated in November, when Democrat Raul Ruiz ousted the seven-term GOP congresswoman. Both went to lobbying firms after losing their seats.
