Arjen Robben Goal Lifts Bayern Munich Past Borussia Dortmund In Champions League Final (VIDEO)

Playing in the Champions League final for the third time in four years, Arjen Robben was not just facing Borussia Dortmund. He was also facing his own previous failures, looking for redemption as much as victory. He got both at Wembley Stadium. Thanks to the Dutch attacker's game-winning goal, Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in a scintillating final.

With Dortmund starting energetically at the offensive end and Roman Weidenfeller denying Robben in the scoreless first half, the 2013 Champions League final looked as if it would be remembered as another dark night in the 29-year-old's illustrious career.

It won't be.

Perhaps learning his lesson after losing an early one-on-one clash with Weidenfeller, Robben assisted the first Bayern goal by drawing the keeper from his net and then slotting a pass to Mario Mandzukic in front of the open goal.

After a penalty score from Dortmund evened the match in the 68th minute, extra time seemed likely. Robben made it unnecessary with a deft, left-footed flick past Weidenfeller in the 88th minute.
