Costco Shooting: One Dead, Deputy Wounded In Sterling, Virginia Store

DEVELOPING: Shooting At Virginia Costco

Leesburg Today reports that one woman was killed and a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputy was wounded in a shooting at a Sterling, Va., Costco on Wednesday afternoon. Shots were fired after deputies responded to a disturbance call at the store.

According to police, a woman allegedly pulled a knife on deputies. Sheriff's office spokesperson Liz Mills told the newspaper that there is no threat to the public.

The Washington Post reported that a worker at the store became agitated at the end of her shift and started acting strangely. Renee Haber, a manager at the store, told the Post that the woman, who had "been serving pizza earlier in the day, began saying 'crazy things' and seemed concerned about the number of servings in a box."

“She was frightening her supervisor,” Haber told the Post.
